Bekkjarvik Gjestgiveri organizes cultural experiences and activities for its guests. Should you wish to experience the sunrise on the ocean or to go to the Marsteinen- or Slåtterøy light houses?
Would you like to feel the excitement of pulling up ocean fish pots or to fish from the whale boat "Rover", we do organize that too.
We co-operate with sailboats, and you may learn how to sail and you may participate in sailing regattas.
Austevoll municipality owns the Marsteinen light house. The light house is clinging to the polished rock, white and shining against the blue ocean, with its white breakers. You may experience the light house up close, from a helicopter or you may see it from a distance, from a boat.
We also organize tours to the Slaatteroy light house, one of the country’s oldest wrought iron light houses and with a French prism crown at the top, which glitters like a giant diamond in daylight. In addition, Slaatteroy has unique stone steps and paths built in stone. The granite rock has a pink colour, and the small grassy patches are perfectly suited for a picnic.
Should you like to hang in the air like the eagle, over the glittering glacier Folgefonnen in a seaplane, we can promise you that it feels like being on the top of the World.
Out here, near the ocean you may wander along quietly, over moors and slopes of naked rock, and feel the wind blow in your hair, watch the wild sheep or just sit down, with a cup of coffee, near the old mill.
From Bekkjarvik you may walk to the island’s highest mountain "Kongsen" in little over half an hour. From here you can see wide, over ocean and islands, towards the south and north. "Nordsjøløypene" (”The North Sea trails”) run across mountains and along the sea at Austevoll. These trails are well marked for hikers. During 2007 you may also hike on the "Promenaden". This is a picturesque hiking trail along the sea.
It winds in a natural way along slopes of naked rocks, coves for swimming, low pine forest and finally ends with a spectacular view towards the open ocean and the Slaatteroy light house. We do have small boats and some ocean canoes for rent, allowing you to experience the closeness to the natural elements, or you may rent a bicycle and knock about on your own. In any case we can promise you wind in your hair and very many experiences of nature.

In the old store, "Butikken" we have established the Gallery Bekkjarvik.
Here are exhibitions, with known artists within oil-, water colour-painting, graphics- and sculpturing.
